Parish Nursing is rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition that we care for others an an expression of God’s love, and in Jesus’ commission to teach, preach, and heal. Parish nursing is a growing specialty practice of nursing, recognized by the American Nursing Association as Faith Community Nursing. As with other specialties, there are specific qualifications for those entering parish nursing. The person must be a registered nurse (RN), with at least 2-5 years of experience where skills have been developed for health assessment and problem-solving.
The United Church Home Parish Church Ministry Program works with local United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ pastors to establish Parish Nurse ministry teams within their congregations.
